PERMANENT JEWELRY FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
✦ Is it safe and does it hurt?
Simply cut the welded ring with wire cutters or nail clippers to remove it (You will be shown where the welded ring is located during the procedure). Be sure to save the chain so you can come back to get it re-welded whenever you're ready to be adorned again!
✦ What materials/metals are available?
14k Gold Filled + Sterling Silver and I will have a small selection of Solid 14k Gold.
Stock is subject to change so if you're looking for a particular chain/charm please contact me so I can reserve them for you!
Read more details about these materials here.
✦ How long does permanent jewelry last?
Solid gold and sterling silver should last indefinitely (as long as they don't get snagged or torn off and are treated with care).
14k Gold Filled can last for several years but prolonged exposure to pools/hot tubs with harsh chemicals can possibly fade the gold over time. After using hand sanitizer or coming into contact with pools/hot tubs be sure to wash your jewelry with mild soap & water to clean off chemicals.
Solid gold is always the best choice if you want an everlasting piece but gold filled is a quality alternative. ♥
✦ Can I go through airport security or get x-rays wearing permanent jewelry?
TSA typically does not make you remove fine jewelry when going through airport security.
X-Rays/MRI's, etc.
You may need to remove your jewelry for x-rays and MRI's, surgeries, etc. Be sure to cut at the welded ring and save your chain to get it re-welded.
✦ Can I remove permanent jewelry?
Despite the name, permanent jewelry CAN be removed. Simply cut the welded ring with wire cutters or nail clippers to remove it (You will be shown where the welded ring is located during the procedure). Be sure to save the chain so you can come back to get it re-welded whenever you're ready to be adorned again!
RE-WELDS:
Your first re-weld is free within 30 days (as long as you cut the welded ring and not the actual chain). Any re-welds after 30 days are $10.
✦ What about if it breaks/snags off?
In the event that it gets caught on something and breaks/snags off it can possibly be re-welded back on depending on the breakage, strength and condition of the chain.
What if I lose my chain?
Any chains that are lost will not be replaced and you must purchase a new one.
✦ Not ready to commit to a permanent piece? Clasps are available!
Clasps are available for anyone who doesn't want to commit or if your lifestyle isn't ideal for a permanent piece. If you get a permanent piece and decide later that you want a clasp, you can come back and a clasp can be added to the same piece.
✦ How do I care for / clean my jewelry?
Your jewelry should naturally clean itself during your normal showers but if it needs extra TLC you can use an extra soft bristle tooth brush to clean in between the chain links with gentle, mild soap.
Sterling Silver can naturally oxidize/turn dark with air exposure or certain liquids (this is normal!). For example: If you go into hot springs that contain sulphur, it will oxidize your silver. If this happens, keep wearing your jewelry as normal for a few days and you're body oils will naturally clean/restore the silver.
✦ Who should NOT get permanent jewelry?
✘ Anyone with pacemakers or medical implants that can interfere with welding equipment should not get permanent jewelry.
✘ Anyone who is allergic to any of the metals offered should not get permanent jewelry.
✘ If you are involved in activities or sports where the jewelry can get easily caught/snagged you may not want to get permanent jewelry and opt for a clasp.
✘ If you work at a job where your jewelry will frequently come into contact with harsh liquids (eg. hand sanitizer, chlorine, etc.) you may not want to get permanent jewelry and opt for a clasp .
